A Little Art Dump

Whoopsie poopsie!!! I didn't mean for a year and a half to go without posting... Time flies when you're having fun, eh?

I took a Creating Comics class with Jim Higgins at Meltdown this past summer, and here's the first page of the 10 page mini comic I'm working on. I wanted to challenge myself with black and white and also incorporate texture. And have no dialogue or words. Maybe one day I'll just use real ink and paper instead of trying to emulate it digitally...

A friend commissioned this as a wedding present... it was so much fun to create art in this style. :3 Aww!

Aaaaand here are a few more pages of that big comic project I've been working on. Love! Family! Friendship! Feelings! It has it all. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel...

I have some figure drawings I should take the time to photograph and put up here as well. I took another class with Gregory Weir-Quiton, which is always so much fun. Next time!

Almost to page 100!!

So I've been working on this comic project for years...  I'm over half way! Yea!!!!!

Drawing Class!

This past fall I took a drawing class at 3 Kicks in Pasadena with Gregory Weir-Quiton.  He's an amazing key art and fashion illustrator who works in the illustration department at my company.  We used a technique in this class that I really loved.  We start at the top of the figure and carefully draw the way down, paying attention to shapes and translating them into accurate lines.  Without a rough or basic frame, you really pay attention to your line art.

Cat for scale.

Do You Want to Build a Meth Lab?

This past September/October I had the honor of working with friends at Toonocracy on an Animeme short which combined two of my favorite things: Breaking Bad and Frozen.  I designed/painted all the backgrounds, here's a few:

And here are some shots, all composited together:

 Wooo!!!

Update + Art Dump!

HEY YOU GUYS!!!! Here is some art from the past year!

Firstly, I took a gesture drawing class at Center Stage by David Pimente this past Spring. It was fun! The models were great and had a different theme each week. These sketches varied from 1 min - 5 min.

I also had a painting commission for my uncle.  This is of my aunt and is based on a pin-up painting on my uncle's business card holder.

AAAAND some random pages/panels from the comic I am STILL working on, not in any order! (only...78 pages to go!)

I made some peeps for my friend's wedding!

Last but not least, my apartment finally invested in a dry-erase board. Best purchase ever.

That's it for now! :)

Whaaaat??? It's September???

Another little snippet from UTCT (yes.... I'm still working on that graphic novel... but... I aim to be done before next summer...).

Aiya!!!

Geez, I can't remember what I did all this summer.  I started watching Dr. Who, started hiking every weekend, tried to work on my freelance, etc.  Ugh, it's like a timewarp, I can barely remember what happened.  I spent too much money on breakfast sandwiches and gasoline, and not enough time on sketching.  Either way, I'm sorry I haven't posted since April.

Magical Botanical Etching

I inked up this little diddly a few months ago for a freelance gig.  I LOVE BOTANICAL ETCHINGS.
